Assembly Continued
I used a different size reamer depending on which part I was working on
because I wanted a press fit for the handle and lid but a slip-fit for
the base so the lid can turn.

I'm not using any glue for this part
because I'm relying on the press-fit of these pieces. If they come loose
later on, I'll use a dab of epoxy on the pins.

Father's Day Present My daughter Angela gave me a great fathers day present
this year, it's a branding iron that says "Handmade by" and
then my name at the bottom. Now I've never used one of these before so I didn't
know how hot to get it before using
it. I played with it on some scrap pieces and then tried it on this
project, which I'll show you soon.

It's Finished
I used some mineral oil on all the surfaces and I really like how it
looks now.

The grain of the wood looks great and I also like the contrast of the
two different types of wood.

The fit of the steel pin works really well. It's easy to turn but it
stays where you put it.

And it comes apart quick and easy if you want.

What a great present this was so thank you Angela. Now I'll have to go
back and brand each project I've made over the past several years.

I hope the kids like there birthday presents, and they should last
for many years.
