There was a new show in historic downtown section of Redlands called "Surfin' State
Street" on Friday, June 6th that ran from 6 - 9 pm. This show had a live
band featuring The Tornadoes, (which were very good) a raffle, 50/50
drawing and there was a DJ
too.
For being their first show, it had a pretty good turnout with about
60 or 70 cars that showed up. Let's check out some of the hot rods that
came out.

This is a 57 Chevy with a unique feature on the dash. As far as I know,
this wasn't a factory installed item but was available through
aftermarket dealers. It was to help you see what color the stop light
was. How? Well back when these cars were new, most stop lights hung
directly overhead if you were stopped in the front of the line. This
meant that you had to bend forward over the steering wheel and look
upwards out of the windshield to see if the light had turned green or
not. If you had one of these on your dash, the green light would reflect
off this wavy-shaped piece of glass to let you know when the light had
changed.
