Working With Steel Again
I'm going to use1/4" square headed bolts for this
project along with some washers. These came from my local Do it Best
hardware store which were in the Rustic Hardware section. However, the washers
I'm using are for #10 bolts so I'll need to open up the holes. The reason I didn't
use the 1/4" washers was because the outside diameters were too large
for what I wanted.

|
This only took a few minutes to drill on my lathe. And come to find out
these washers were not that hard either.
|
|
I bought two lengths of these bolts because they didn't
have enough of the shorter size of 3/4" long. That didn't matter because
I'll need to cut them down to 1/2" long anyways. To do that I'm using my
handy
bolt cutting fixture that I made a few years ago.

All you do is thread in the bolt, tighten it down in the appropriate
location (depending on what length you need), mount it in a vise and
then cut the bolt off right next to the fixture. Last you deburr them on
a belt sander and that's it.

I was struggling on what I wanted to use for hanging the plaque up with. Do I
make some kind of hooks or buy them? In the end, I bought some
hooks that should work pretty good. The only drawback, I didn't make
them.

It's Finished
Here it is all finished.

|
I didn't know exactly where I wanted the leaf to be but there it is.

|
The finish on the arrow turned out pretty nice. And you can't see where
the weld was either.

A close up of the other end of the arrow.
