Here is the new cross member that I made. I
used the two rear holes in the chassis so I only had to drill two new
holes next to the others. This is made out of 1/2" mild steel and
cut at the same angle as the X member in the chassis.

I put some nice large chamfers on it
so it would look nice when people look under the car. I mean, doesn't
everyone look under cars?? Oh well....someone might.

The top cross member is the old one and you
can see it's a little larger than the other. I didn't have a rubber
trans mount to bolt to the transmission while doing the mock-up so
that's why there's not slots in the new one. I ordered one and it should
be here this week and then I can put it back in the car one more time
and mark the right spot on the new cross member and then add the slots. This
way I get it right the first time....at least that's the plan.
