This was a busy weekend for us because
the following day, June 3, we went to a show in Calimesa which was held
at the Oak Valley Family Church. The theme was called "Hot Rod Heaven"
and ran from 3 to 7 pm on Sunday.
This show is held once a year and when I had the car finished awhile
ago, this was going to be on our short list of shows to attend. But for
whatever reason (last year) this show didn't happen. It did this year so this is one
reason we did the two-in-one-weekend car show. Oh, I almost forgot,
there were motorcycles at the show too.
The way the parking was handled this time made for a smaller show,
which meant it was a first come-first serve deal this time. The last show
they had (two years ago) had the spectators parking in the road in front
of the church (which was a very long line of cars) so this may be why
they decided to park everyone on the property.
One of the things we look forward to when we go to these shows is
raffle, 50/50 drawing and the food. This show didn't disappoint with any
of the above. And you couldn't get any more reasonable with the cost of
the food, two bucks got you a cheeseburger, chips and drink (now that's
what I'm talk'n about). All the proceeds went back to the church so
that was a good thing.
In this shot you can see where most of the show cars were at and
down towards the end is where the spectators parked. You can see
Interstate 10 in the distance.
