Here is the engine to the 57 which was flawless. Notice the oval opening
towards the front of the car. This is the air intake passage that feeds
the engine.

And now notice the tubing that is U shaped that has a similar opening in
the middle. This lines up with the one on the engine to bring in cold
air from the outside. Where does the air come from you ask?

The cutouts on the hood is the answer to that question. And to keep out
any small birds or bugs, there is a piece of screen on the outside. You talk about a
cool way to bring in air to a motor (no pun intended), this was it and
what a great idea.

On the other end of the spectrum we have a fully restored 57 Chevy which
was very nice.

The engine was show floor quality clean and I love that old fuel injection
on that 283 too.
