New Transmission  51                 May  2012

Using a razorblade makes quick work of the extra cardboard.

In this close-up you can see that cardboard doesn't like to be bent very much. If I were to leave it like this, you would see some of this when I put the leather on so it needs to be addressed.

What I did was sand the surface just a small amount to remove the high spots. And believe it or not that funny looking surface that you see now will make all the difference once the material has been glued on.

Here is a piece of leather that I had leftover which will be just right for this piece. I even have enough to do about three if I had to but I hope I don't.

I'll be gluing half of the leather here because I'm working alone but if someone were here to help I'd do it all at one time. The other half is rolled up right where I stopped spraying the glue at.

Here it is all glued and now I'm ready to start cutting and fitting.
